Thread: Some Title and Discription advise please

My site is pretty much optimized now many thanks for previos help Guys.
One thing caught my eye about titles, David mentioned that it should not start with your name.. My titles usually start with "MadMermaids Scuba" ... is this hurting the way SE's see my site?
Also I did the site map using the ror tool but I notice that it does not add Title and Discription... Should I edit the sitemap to include these?
Any feed back would be most appreciated.

Your title would be much better if it started with keywords - then end it with at MadMermaids Scuba - is the general consensus. Also - keep all titles no longer than 96 characters - and that is pushing it - and use as few accessory words as possible. In other words - no in, an, and, at, of, etc unless you find no way around it. An example would be how I've done the titles on A Child's Palace - using the | key to separate the words.

Hi Beth. I am rebuilding my Floor Audit site and want to be sure to pick up on alot of the tips I have gathered over the months. This one you share using the verticle line key to separate the words is great. But I don't seem to have that symbol on my keyboard. Is there a trick to that? May be a silly question...maybe I need a new keyboard?

Thanks for that Beth, any thoughts about adding the page titles and discriptions to the sitemap?

Cindy - it's right above the enter key - shift \ is | -

John, The site map doesn't need to have anything except links to all pages - it's to help the se's find all your pages easily. It's the pages themselves that need the titles and descriptions. It's really important for very large sites - if your site is small - it's not so important (IF you have links already to all the pages in your navigation) but still good to have.
