Thread: linking to uploaded files

i've looked through all the tutorials and i have one question ...similar to Ken999's question....:

I understand how to upload a new file to a new folder using the control panel....but i don't show how link from one of my pages to the new uploaded file......

As I understand viewers to my site can only see the links and images i create for them.... So far, I only see instructions on how to link to other web pages.

in other words, since the new file would be on YOUR system, how how can i direct the link on MY computer to link to the new file on YOUR server.

I'm an amateur filmaker, and my goal is give viewers the opportunity to click on a link and automatically download a video file that i gave uploaded to your server.

I've been racking my brains and cannot see exactly how this is done.

example....

lets say you uploaded a zip file called movie.zip ok?

you would create the following hyperlink on your page.

www.YourDomain.com/movie.zip

or

www.YourDomain.com/FolderName/movie.zip

if you created a new folder.

when one of your vsistors clicks one of the above. The download will start automatically.

so instead of navigating to the file through windows, i directly type in the location of the file ?
