Smile Creating a second BV website

Dear Blue Voda,
I have successfully got one website up and running for one of my businesses and now I have to create another for another business. If I click on the exiiting Blue Voda file it has all the exisiting website stuff (files) there. My question is how do I start afresh for this new one which is not related to the existing one.

Exisitng domain name is widerworldworkshop.com

You have to purchase a new domain name, and go to the tutorials on add-on domains. Watch them. Add the new domain as stated. Build your new website.

Make sure to make a new folder within your BV files for the new website - I name all mine with the name of each website. That's where those pages get saved.

Follow the directions for how to publish to the add-on domain -

ie: for your main domain you publish to - public_html

for the add-on it would be to - public_html/yournewdomainname (where that is the actual domain name)

Dear Beth,
Thanks for your help but Add On domain sounds like it will be connected in some way to the first one. These two website should not be connected to each other as one is commercial and the other non profit. Is there anyway to just make a new website as I did the with the first? Sorry if I missed the point but the words "Add On" is my concern

NO - and add-on is NOT connected to the first - except as the first in the one that is used to establish your account. As far as how it's seen on the web, the addon will not look any different. Both A Child's Palace and Pinata Palace in my signature are add-on domains.

Add-on means you are adding this domain on to your account.

Sarah

A sub-domain is dependent on a domain, .. so perhaps this may have been what you were thinking .. and a sub-domain is also free to create, and as many as you like.

Smile Re: Creating a second BV website

I have to purchase the domain name from another company because I need a specific after the . and then change the DNS record with BV. I can only see an option Domain Only or Webhosting & Domain. Do you know what the charges are and how I can pay for Web Hosting only?

Thaks,

Sarah

Sarah, you already have web hosting here - so you don't need to purchase it again. Just get the domain name where ever you need to, then point the nameservers to your account.
