    Default Blue Voda or SOHO

I posted a query about the different capabilities of the two builders apart from the obvious PC based and Server based architecture but it elicited no response.

It appears that the best way to find out is by actually trying it out. Once subscribed to a Voda hosting can one load SOHO for a period to try and build a temporary site with it and then remove SOHO and download Blue Voda to get practical experience with it and learn how it compares before deciding with what builder to proceed in real life? I am not HTML code experienced and would like to use a builder that offers maximum flexibility to modify templates and site appearance with no to minimal complexity of code manipulation.

    Hi,

You can test to your heart's desire once you sign up for a VodaHost account. There is no restriction except for the setting up of an XXX site.

Test any software you like if it is not up to expectation, delete the whole
lot and start afresh with something else.

I prefer BlueVoda as you have freedom of use and design to build a website of your dreams. It does not restrict you with limitations to you
designing capabalities and you will have a choice of any shopping cart you want to use that is available today.

Soholaunch is a complete ecommerce solution with a built in shopping cart. With Blue Voda, you can build websites but you have to add a cart if you need one. And yes, you will need to try out each of them to get a feel for what you want and expect from the two. :)

Could you come back and post what you find out? I'm very curious, but just opted for BlueVoda (flipped a coin). Thanks.

Hi Cathrn, I only found out now what to do to remove SOHO and start with BV. It is one of those hidden tricks one has to hunt for to uncover but with the efficient forum and support service all was revealed in due course and I am now just about ready to start on BV. I have not been into SOHO too deeply and of course it very much depends on the purpose of your website. Generally speaking it appears that SOHO is more apt for ecommerce and for optimal use may depend on some purchased add ons or custom templates. I am trying to see if BV will offer greater flexibility and originality in using its free features. I am not building an ecommerce site but rather an art gallery.

Both are good solutions. For more than a couple of products i prefer soho, dedicated ip and ssl. Management is all in one place, im not logging in four places to do mail, newsletters accepting payments and processing payments.. orders are all together.. etc etc. Plus the added benefit of having a built in database .. forms to database etc etc. Just depends on how BIG and how much you want to do.

For an art gallery.. bv is probably the better choice. Since you dont need the cart.

Then would you reccomend soho for a busy ecommerce site that sells coffee?
About 175 items and approx. 75 - 100 orders a week? This is very important that I find this out now before going any further.

Well ya .. thats where I would put it.. thats where I put grannys nook.. and for awhile a dropship site with about 3500 products..but ya.. i would consider using soho for it.. keep in mind you have to do addons for convulted shipping.. but considering you dont pay initially for the software.. not a bad deal at all..

You can IMPORT the products all in one swoop once youve made your categories.. have all the cart loaded in about ten minutes.. just do your outer lead in pages. Oh and ftp your images.

Well it's about time. I think I found my answer to my worries.
I like the granny's pages how the products are in a nice orderly fashion with the ad content. Soho it is!
I'm sure that the plug in are not much of a hassle? Right??

    Thanks Karen

No.. the plugins are pretty self explanatory.. and you use the builder to upload and install them from the plugin module so you arent doing any coding to make it work.

One last question about this subject of soho and site building...
(not really my last question) but,
If I manage three or four sites for other people built in soho from my computer, will I have to do anything besides keep the files seperate for each site?
It looks like I have a few people that want more than one site each.
    Should I run Now?
