Is it possible to make the publish button save at the same time you publish? Lots of folks forget to save first, and then their changes dont show up. Combining this would save alot of headaches.

Fantastic idea, Karen! Should be doable, because they save images in the images folder on our computer when they publish.
Great IDEA Karen :)
We sometimes wonder why the changes did not occur, and then realize that we have not saved them in the first place...

That would be great as long as you could save/save as without publishing.

Exactly, since most of us have habits to save every minute, waiting for it to publish every time would be a pain. Great Idea!
Well youd still have the save/saveas
Just fix the publish button to auto save with a tick box by default.

ha .. here comes odd ball here .. but for me .. alot of times I don't want my page saved until I've seen it .. meaning I will publish a page and then decide whether or not I want to save it .. in case I change my mind, so I wouldn't want this feature ... but that's just me .. LOL ..![]()

Well you could UNTICK the box...best of both worlds..
Or have a preferences setting.. so it would come by default to save.. and advanced users can edit their preferences.

Your Belief is Your Reality
Hi,
To me it is a matter of habit.
After making the changes in my webpage, I would hit the "Save" button on the top toolbar before I do anything else with the page.
It has become habitual.

HAPPY ARE THOSE WHO DREAM DREAMS AND ARE READY TO PAY THE PRICE TO MAKE THEM COME TRUE.
But of course Blue Voda lets one undo an action after saving the document unlike other microsoft processors that I've used.
One question Madam Moderator, have you ever lost hours of work because you haven't hit the saved button before publishing?
Or does that only happen to me? (power blackouts, etc etc.)
Just recently I lost 2 Soho pages that I had spent time on finding the products I wanted moving them to the specific spots on the page where they looked best. Then doing a text element had the text editor play up, tried to get out of that & lost the entire page!
Soho is a creature of a different color. And that TinyMCE editor drives me insane.. youre right it doesnt retain info, its java based and uses resources differently.. and psssst im not a moderator over here..LOL

pssst......I'll bet a lot of us here at VodaHost, came over from where you are a moderator.....AND so much happier for doing so!! LOL!
(Not pointed at you, but rather the product! LOL!)
Great Idea, I'll bet it'll be out in a future BlueVoda Version. :)
That would definitely make my life easier! I thought that BV was working on that with this last update....
My question wasn't to you Karen, it was to LadyEye. I have also lost info in BV as well because I didn't hit save immediately.
I mention Soho because of the trouble I've had with the text editor playing up. If it mucks up the best thing I've found is to close it up & start again. Sometimes it seems the whole site seizes up & you lose everything on the page that wasn't saved before you started work.
whenever i am working in photoshop or illustrator and i get into a creative streak i am able to save each change "as" 1,2,3 etc
then i can go back and compare each to the original.
this thought as applied to BV is new to me but i think a alternate page could be saved "as" example2.html, example3.html and so on and then each can be viewed by typing url in browser.
i haven't needed to use this. but it might be handy.
then of course, one would have to eventually go to control panel and remove alternate pages if space is an issue.
another alternative is if you have vista you can screen capture with the
snipping tool and save preview pages as .jpgs and view them in photoshop or other programs to compare.
hmmm.
any other thoughts on this out there (in here?)?
i'll check it out and let everyone know if it's effective.
