Thread: Quick question

I was about to sign up but didn't know what way round to do it, I want my own free Domain but want to add a sub domain for the site I am building for someone else (they already have their domain). I will want to build my own site later on & a couple of other small ones too, meaning....

Main - me.co.uk
Sub - them.co.uk
Sub - others.co.uk

Can this be done & if so how?

When I try to register the domain name I want it says it is already registered but when I click on the whois button it comes up as available. So does this mean I can have it or not? Do I need to contact someone & if so who???

Hi .. not really sure about your domain question, but check again to be sure .. but each of you will require a Voda Host account to publish your websites to .. so you will both qualify as well, for a free domain ..

No, not quite right ..

You can run as many domains in your voda hosting account as you like, providing they are all of your domains ..

Your own domains will go in your voda hosting account ..

The site you are creating for "someone else" will require their own voda hosting account ..

Ok I will get the hosting for the other account in their name & then one for myself in my name & with my own domain.

A domain name is the name of the site you create. w w w . yoursite . com
If you do not have a domain name you can not publish to the web. Sign up for an account and VodaHost will give you one for free.

Yes, it will be the address where your website will be found ...

When you join voda hosting, for your website hosting account, you can choose a free domain name with them .. just part of your signing bonus ..

I just wanted to say thank you for all the advice so far (I'm sure I will be asking for lots more).
The rescue people I am going to (attempt) build a site for has signed up & I have paid & I am going to get my own space when I have sorted this one out. I'm not sure what I will use my space for? I just want it! I am so impressed with VodaHost, BlueVoda & you guys!
