Thread: File Downloads

I am looking to join Voda for my web hosting and was in the process of siging up when I thought I'd better read the Terms of service, it states;

2.3) File Hosting

File Hostingis strictly prohibited on any and all servers within the VodaHost network. You MAY NOT use your VodaHost account as a download repository. Our services are strictly offered for website hosting only.

I had intended selling information products such as e-books, from my website, which would be dowloaded immediately by the buyer upon payment. Will I be able to do this or will would it classed as file hosting?

E-books are not a problem..What we mean by download repository
are sites like download.com that offer 1000's of free software downloads.
These type of sites require a dedicated server.

Wow! Now I am impressed, that was a quick reply. Thats why I'm looking for a new host. They just never bothered answering my mail.

Thanks for that I'll check it out. In the meanwhile I would be grateful for some more help, I've been trying to complete the registration process but when it reaches the part
UK Specific Registration Information,
Legal type of registrant contact: I have selected "Individual" but it wont let me leave the next field empty for Company identification number: as I dont have one, I have tried entering "none" but it wont accept that.
Please help.

Just select individual and put 999999999 in the box. I will sort it out with Tony B. later ;)

Thanks for all your help I have now successfuly signed up. Just another couple of things if you dont mind.
1. How long before I can actually start using the service.
2. I noticed during the payment process it added the cost of domain registration of $39.99, I filled out the voucher section as instructed but only took off $19.99. Is this correct, as on the first page of features it stated that domain registration was free?
3. Does VodaHost supply or reccomend any auto delivery sofware or service such as My Digital Dispatch?

1) Please allow 24 hours for your account to be fully setup.
2) The domain registration is free, this is why the coupon freedomain deducted $19.95 for your total.
