Thread: 2nd bluevoda account on same computer

I use BlueVoda with a site I've created for work. I use a computer at work as well as my own personal at home to maitain this site.

My 12 yr old daughter will be designing her own site... we want to use BlueVoda... she will be working on our home computer to design and maintain hers...

Can anyone see a potential problem for mix ups with folders and files from either site getting confused?

Is there a better way to handled this to avoid trouble?

Hi Jazzigirl,

I run 2 websites on the same computer, and it's not that hard.
Here's the way I do it:

On blue voda folder (where you keep your pages) create a folder to your work site, and another to your daughter's site.
It is SAFE to move your page files to another location.

In image folder, as my guess is you allready have there your site work pictures DO NOT MOVE THEM, or you will have to place them on your pages again.
Instead, create a new folder to your daughters pictures, and place her pictures in there.

That is a beginning... the only thing I don't quite get with my limited knowledge...
is that I never place my images in a folder, they just end up there when I publish...
so I am a bit confused about making sure her images don't mix with my work images... or maybe it doesn't matter as long as we keep our pages in our own folders.

Also, I am wondering if she creates hers totally from her own desktop... maybe they would remain apart more easily??

Be very careful if you have the 2 websites in 1 account....

You must check before either of you publish a page, that it goes to
the correct website.

It seems easy, but I have forgotten to change the directory on several occasions.

I am running 5 on the same computer. I just made a folder under BV called "websites" then put all the files for www.website1.com in
"website1" subfolder and all the files for "website2" in its own folder.
Then keep in a HANDY spot the Server number/username/password for
each website. CLOSE to the computer. Just check before you PUBLISH.

LOL.....I have 7 VH Hosting accounts, and am currently running over 75 sites across 4 computers, a single 200g external drive and five 8g Flash drives--- and I still can talk without drooling too much!

I guess I am doing good, huh?

Point is --- if I can do it, anyone can!
It just takes good planning and careful execution to get the desired results.

I mentioned that point because I had a 12 year old daughter
and she used to get so excited that she wanted to publish straight away....and whoopsss.............lol

Hey I'm in agreement on all points made :}

which is why i am asking ahead of time!!

We are planning to have two totally different Voda accounts ...
will that help to keep things separate??

more ideas welcome ... we are ready to get on it this weekend...
just back from China and on a roll... but want to get our plan right.

2 different usernames
2 different passwords..................
