Domain ID protect???

I have just signed up but was not sure about Domain ID protect. Can someone please explain? does that prevent others from knowing who u are??? is it necessary to have? is it too late since I have already signed up? Thanks in advance.

It uses the registrars information instead of your own... if you do not have it then anyone can do a search on your domain name and find out your name, phone number, street address, and email address... which with the exception of your email address isn't anything people can't get from a phone book

Its only necessary if you feel you don't want anyone in the world to know that info. Its never to late to change... I can't see a registrar unwilling to do so for whatever charge there will be for it

Thanks for the link. I signed up yesterday but missed the Domain ID protect. Can I still purchase it? If yes, do I purchase it from the link that you mention? Thanks again.
