Default Properties of the galleries

I would like to make a wish

I am going to use the Gallery in my site. I want to make it as a pop out window. But there is no options to protect the images from getting saves as from visitors. Yepp, a bit paranoia maybe. But actually, I have discovered my picture getting stolen earlier.

I know, we cant totally protect them of course. But we can make the possibillities to make it harder for them to do so.

I know there are scripts out there to prevent right click. But we an only use it on the mainpage. It dosent work if we are using the pop out window option in our galleries.

So my wish would be more options in this section. Maybe an option to crypt the galleries, or options to do more in the html of the galleries.

Is there any chance to get something like this in BV?

Hi, to do this, you would have to place each image on a separate page & publish that page & at the same time put the no right click on each page that you have published with an image on.
From there you would place a thumbnail on your gallery page & put a link for a popup. Sample here.

Oh, thank you very much That looked great.

But unfortunally, I didnt quite understand how to go forward. Hmmm, I must be very slow. he he.
I am totally confused how to do this.

Here is what I tried:
I inserted an image in one of my gallery pages.. And will try to link the image to another blank page. In that blank page, I went to properties and set it to show as pop up. Is this the way to do it? I tried to, but I cant see how it works in the preview mode.

Hi, you have to make a totally new page & place the single large image in the top left corner. Now publish this page & remember the URL. Also worth remembering the image size for the pop up link.
Now go to your normal website page & place a thumbnail of the larger image on the page. Now Rright click>Properties> & enter the url of the page that you published with the larger image in the url field.
Then check the "open window in pop up window" & click on pop up settings to enter the size of the window to open. Usually make this about 10px larger than needed.
The page that you published with the lager image on, might be better with a darker background with the style or images your using.

Hi David, was looking around on some forums & apparently N/R click with opera is very difficult. These browsers might stick to the rules one day. LOL.
IE is the worst of them.

You could do as I did and use a different program to show case your photos..you can look at my site in the photos (not the all-star ones as they are not right click disabled) to see if this may be something to consider.

You would go to JAlbum and downolad the Free software. It is pretty easy to use, but if you have any questions you can contact me through my site and I will walk you through it.

Hi Katrine .. you could consider using flash for your images, this protects all those other than a screen print of your image ... and you could also place watermarks on your images too ...

Hi LadyEye. Yes, I would like to hae flash. But I dont know how to do it. So I guess I just deside to watermark then like you say. Too bad though. cause watermarks dont look quite good on photoes. But still, yes its an option of course

No right click will NOT stop anyone from taking your pictures - and it's unprofessional. Actually, when I see a website that does it - I usually will take something and then email it to them - to show them that it's a waste of time and effort.

My two cents.

If you don't want something taken, even the most expensive ways to keep it from happening - won't stop those who really want it. That's the web in it's glory - for good and bad.

Oh, and you can take a flash image without just a screenshot - you can take it from the pages html - and off the server itself. Just a fyi.

As to watermarks, that's probably the most professional way to go - but a professional can remove those watermarks also.

So, did I make you more paranoid?

Hi, You have a nice site & I love your photography.

Just to say, when I had a Gallery a couple of years ago I put a code in to stop people clicking on my pictures, I cant remember the code but I do remember it was "navel design" that helped me with this issue. So somewere on this forum you will find a solution.
Good luck!

Hi Bethers I know what you mean. And no, it didnt make me more paranoid. he he. I also know no right click dosent give totally protection. Thats the reason I was wondering if bluevoda could have an option for something similar (but somehow better) in the properties in their galleries.

I have also asked earlier how I can make my pages crypted. But I havent been lucky to find out how to do that.

So yes, I will watermark them. I have it on some of them already though. But will create it on every from now.
Thanks for your thoughts and opinion on this issue

Justallsort.
Thank you very much for your compliment on my work.
About the scripts, I already have the code for it. I used it earlier. But discovered it was no point in using it. It didnt give much protection anyway. Expecially from Google. They do download anything. And makes it downable in full size from their sites. So actually, they are the biggest thieves on the net.:-/
