Thread: .htaccess file

Hi,

I have a problem customizing the permalinks structure.

I choose the custom option and the structure is /%category%/%postname%.php

When I update the structure, the permalink still doesn't work.

I was told that I need to do something with the .htaccess file and I'm stuck at this step.

My url is www.knowaboutthis.com

Please advice and thanks.

Jas,

I dont know a whole lot about htaccess, just that it exists and couple of uses for it, and Im not going to pass that on, because its just enough to be dangerous.

You will find the htaccess file onnthe server please login via ftp and you will see it, just insert the lines as instructed.

Hi, I'm having the same problem... Nothing i do seems to touch the .htaccess file. It doesn't seem to be updated by any changes made to Permalinks structure or the .htaccess permissions.

What “line” needs to be inserted?

on the page in your wordpress where it tells you to insert it, it gives you the exact line.
