Updating WP

When I access Wp i get a little banner at the top of my page saying there is a new version of WP please update - when I click on it it takes mt to a page with a .zip file and a .tar.gz file and I have a quick question

WHAT THE HECK AM I MEANT TO DO WITH THESE????????????

Its just a small matter of confusion! lol!
