Default SPAM & Adding RSS Feed

Question 1 Why so much spam? I manually read each comment before allowing (smart move,I thought) however I sometimes have a little trouble separating the spammers from the real interested commenters. If I was really viscous in my selection I most probably would disallow every single one. Does everyone receive such obvious spammy comments on their WP Blogs. I sometimes get up to 20 per day and most are disallowed - using up too much time in my book.

Question 2 - some of the spammy comments (maybe legit) have commented that they cannot find my RSS link. I've seen so many plugins regarding RSS. Which one just adds a simple visible RSS link?

I've been with Blue Voda for 5 years now and this is my first serious attempt at blogging and I'm not too impressed with the obvious trash, spam etc that I get in comments. So many are similar in style.

Cool Re: 2 questions I need to ask. To spam or not to spam? How do I add an RSS link?

    1. Spam, the volume of it, and the attempts to hack your blog are simply the realities of publishing online in front of a world filled with many persons with not entirely innocent ambitions. How you deal with it is up to you, but limiting ALL comments and User Registrations to instant "Approval" and "Moderation" areas for review before allowance is clearly the best method altogether. You will need to adjust your routine to allow time to properly administrate, or choose to disallow interaction altogether. It is up to you, and is simply the way things are.

    2. You should be reviewing the detailed instructions on how to activate RSS for your specific template from the resources provided from the author of your theme, or other similar posts in the official Wordpress Support Forums. In today's Social Media realm, often it is an action implemented by the User themselves, as a type of "subscribing" to your blog, by running a script to import the posts directly to the platform of their choice: for instance, Facebook offers a choice of "Blogger" interfaces which will populate RSS feeds to pages, unlike the RSS feeds of past eras where posts are shared between websites (and these too, required specialty scripts to be installed by the User according to the format of the website feeds were to be posted). Bottom line, you will need to find your specific solution from the author of your theme or from similar sources like the Wordpress Support Forum, and not hope to find one in the VodaTalk Forums based on an ambigious querry with no link to a named website ...

Default Re: SPAM & Adding RSS Feed

Solved the spamming problem! Found a plugin "disable comments"- no more comments. After a dozen more in the last 24 hours and some were similar once again to previous comments while others were extensive in length and bereft of content I had decided enough was enough. I not that long ago deleted an entire forum that was continuously blasted with spam.
Regarding RSS I'm still a little confused how it all works.
In the Vodahost release "The Secrets to Promoting ..." there was mention of Feed Burner Feed Smith. Is it supposed to show something on the blog? I did have a "DynamicWP Running Rss" on the site but decided to deactivate that for the time being. I have activated Feed Burner Feed Smith but can't see any changes on the blog.
    The blog is http://www.onlineresearch4u.com/weblog

    1. Eliminating comments is a simple method to prevent Spam and hacks, as I mentioned above.
    2. It is important that you understand how to use the specific tools and features of Wordpress from within the Dashboard itself, as this is the only access you have to the integrated mechanisms: activate the DynamicWP Running RSS, as the Feed Burner provides a different function. Google both to learn the features of each.
