  • First ever website

    Hi,

Please take a look at my website and offer any suggestions / criticisms you feel relevant. It might not make much sense, as its mainly aimed at a group who are taking part in a competition I am running based on the English Premiership (soccer) - follow the link to Premiership Prediction - as this is where the majority of the website is.

Some of the pages (such as the pictures page) are still under construction as I havent figured out how to enable the links I want.

I'm really proud of what I have created - and the guys who use it are really impressed too.

I just want to say a big Thank you to all the people at Bluevoda for making your package so easy to use, and for allowing me to create something I have visioned since coming up with the competition.

Thanks for taking the time to have a look around and for any comments you make.

    Cheers,

Pete (your friend across the pond in England)

        Very Nice*

I really like the layout of your website, but you said it relates to soccer? - I visited thinking I am about to see an amazing car website with nice rides..haha - but its still good even if its really designed for soccer.

        Good Job!!!

Sorry to disappoint - the main bulk of the website is designed for the people who are doing the competition I am running. Now that this is pretty much set up - I am starting to concentrate on the 'non-competition' side of the website. Just out of curiosity - does anyone know how to get the likes of Google, Yahoo search engines to point in your direction should someone search for something which could be found on your site?

Nice job, I am still fannying around trying to get my first page together. Regarding the search engines, you need to sort out your meta tags which is found in the page properties of the page whislt you are building the page. Then use the keyword driller to get some key words and insert them. Don't repeat a particular term too much as this can turn off SE's sometimes. A good and relatively cheap submission tool is call Exploit submission wizard which is a simple download and then fires off your details to 894 search engines....I am IT clueless and it seems to work for me!! Also important is to keep updating your content as the SE's always try and find relevant (read upto date) content to display first in the search results. Also get a few affiliate links on your links page that would interest your mates. If they click and sign up for any of them you will get a commission. Thats all I can do to help!! Now back to the drawing board to see if I can upload my bleedin pages!! Nice job on the site, it looks great.

              Cheers,
              Sutski

Nice site - Job well done. One small thing though - your logo and nav buttons are JPEG files [ on this page: http://www.ragingmonkies.co.uk/prem.html ] - I would redo them as Gifs - this will make the file sizes smaller and they will look a little neater - when JPEGS are compressed some of the colours are removed - if you remove to many the images start to degrade.

As a rule of thumb - Use JPEG compression for photos, and GIF files for graphics, such as the ones you are using for your logo and nav buttons.

                Cheers!

                Hey Sutski!
