Just read the allstarfaces thread about a virus.
The best way to start to get rid of viruses, trojans etc is to turn off Windows restore as the virus is sat hiding in the files and will come back and re-infect.
Then open windows in safe mode and run all your virus,adware and trojan checkers. The winlogon32.exe referred to in the above post is a trojan horse.
There is a bit of advice about it here although you don't necessarily have to download their software.

I didn't follow any of the links in your post, but I will say that advising anyone to turn off System Restore is not a good idea. I've seen too many people have to reinstall Windows because they'd shut that off and didn't have a way to roll back their systems.

i used races advice and it worked 100% i used a programe called avast without shuttin down system restore i know use avast alongside zone alarms and i never get any trouble now and i still go to some dodgy places lol

Once you have cleaned the bad stuff off, you then turn on system restore and create a restore point. You don't turn it off permanently.

Greetings-
Might I add a few thoughts to this subject?- I have cleaned many friends computers from a mirad of nasty bugs. I have found (through much trial and error) what seems to be a good system to remove bugs,bad programs etc... So here is an outline.
First, before you do any cleaning- back up critical info. Pictures, documents, and programs for which you do not have an install disc.

Second- Download this program http://www.stevengould.org/software/.../download.html
It is a fantastic program that deletes all temp files in many cache's that you didn't even know you had.
Download and install.

Click on My Computer. When opened- Click on Tools>Folder Options> and then click on the View tab.
Now scroll down a little and check "Show hidden files and folders" and then click on Apply. Close out of that
when done. (The reason is that some programs will not search "Hidden" files unless directed to. Additionally-
if you are looking for a bug- certain files will be hidden from your search.

Click on Internet Explorer and click on Tools>Sun Java Console Once opened- hit the "L" key. Then hit the "X" key.
This is a very important step. It essentially dumps the classloader list and cache where many a java bug hide.

Right click on "My Computer" and click on the System Restore tab. Turn off System Restore.

Run the Clean Up program. Once complete- choose "No" to sign off windows. Close out of Clean Up.

Click on Start>Control Panel>Add/remove Programs. Remove programs such as Viewpointe, Search Assistant,
Search optimizer, Windows optimizer, etc...... Also- many Tool Bars are a source of problems. In short- remove
programs that you are certain you did not install. If in doubt- put the name in Google and see what it is.

Restart Computer in safe mode.

Run your anti Virus program. Avast and AVG are great FREE antivirus programs. You can find them here:

When done- restart in regular mode.

Re-run YOUR Antivirus.

The Windows Defender beta2 program is very good at removing known trojans/viruses/tool bars/ search assistant
files. The nice thing about this program is that it digs deep into the registry and removes the problem entries.

Doing the above will take care of most problems that have accumulated in your PC. Other great tools are:

AFTER CLEANING YOUR MACHINE. RE-START. THEN TURN BACK ON THE SYSTEM RESTORE.
