  • downloads published when?

I read the post on the downloads. Is this how it should work?

Create a text link on my page.

    Link it to the file.

My question? When I publish my page, does that file get published also or do I upload it using FTP? Should I have the file on my computer under the Blue Voda, page name, and then in the images folder?

I have placed the video on You Tube, but it might be better if it was just a downloadable file. It plays on Windows Media Player.

    Thanks,

You can link to the movie file via text or a button. Or you could use the Windows Media Player on the left side of the BV Web Builder. Click on it and then enter the name of the file.

And yes- you would need to upload the movie file with the FTP manager.

      Thanks Andy.
I did upload my video file using the ftp.

      public_html folder
lastingpresentations folder (this site is www.lastingpresentations.com)
      Riley2.mpg (name of file)

On my page that I created for my previews I have

      Riley Custom Homes Example

      This is linked to
      http://www.lastingpresentations/Riley2.mpg

but I can still not see a pop up saying open or save file.

Do you know what I am doing wrong?

        Re: downloads published when?

I suspect there is a difference in how the file is named or spelling problem somewhere. Also- you forgot the .com in your link. I sould be-
        http://www.lastingpresentations.com/Riley2.mpg

Now there is still a problem with the spelling of the file or the file extension. Connect to the server via FTP manager and look at the movie file again and copy exactly how it appears and then re-do teh link to reflect that.

        Post back .

          Re: downloads published when?

Thanks Andy. I got it to work. At first when I tried to access the file from my website, it came up playing with Quicktime and would only play about 11 seconds. I thought hhhmmmm.
So I deleted the Quicktime player from my computer and everything seems to be working good.
The first couple of times I clicked open the file, it only downloaded about half of the video. So I cleared my temp files and then it downloaded the entire file.
          Thanks again,
