  • Help !! I seem to have an Invisible Link

Some time ago, I deleted a page called fishing.html. I removed all links referring to it and deleted the actual page using ftp in Control Panel.

There are no visible links on my index page referring to fishing.html

Every time I run xml sitemap generator or other site checking programs they report fishing.html as a broken link on my index page..... at least thats where I think they refer it to. This is a copy of the xml report:

    Referred from URL
    Broken link points to URL
    http://www.goinfishing.co.uk/
    http://www.goinfishing.co.uk/fishing.html

Can someone please tell me why this link is still being shown as broken when as far as i'm aware it doesn't exist !!
    Many thanks,
    John

I would think if you created a new site map, replacing your old site map, this would take care of the problem ....

Re: Help !! I seem to have an Invisible Link

you have links still on your home page to that page -

        <A href="<A href="http://www.goinfishing.co.uk/fishing.html"><IMG">http://www.goinfishing.co.uk/fishing.html"><IMG src="626363636.jpg" alt="" align="top" border="0" width="133" height="30" style="position:absolute;left:420px;top:409px;widt h:133px;height:34px;z-index:3"></A>
        <A href="<A href="http://www.goinfishing.co.uk/fishing.html"><IMG">http://www.goinfishing.co.uk/fishing.html"><IMG src="626363636.jpg" alt="" align="top" border="0" width="133" height="30" style="position:absolute;left:250px;top:410px;widt h:133px;height:30px;z-index:4"></A>

Those are from your source code. So that's the broken links they are finding. I believe it's what you have on your contact us button! Meaning no one can contact you!

Beth !!! You're an unsurpassed Genius. It would have taken me 12 months to find that ..... in fact its taken weeks already !! lol It was on the other button as well... a result of copying the buttons from the old page then deleting it.
              Thanks again
