  • not getting my site, but a parked page

I have published a page of my website (just to let people know that my business does exist and a site is under construction.) After I publish, the box comes up that says I have successfully published, but when I enter the URL in the browser, it comes to the parked page at my domain registars site. I have gone into it a few weeks ago to change the nameservers- do you think that I need to check them or is there another course of action?
    Thanks in advance,
    Pam

Re: not getting my site, but a parked page

      Well, let's see...

I beleve it is saved as index_clone_clone becuase I still don't know what the heck I'm doing all the time lol
I will go rename it and my actual index so that I have it correct.
However, when I actually publish, should it ask for the name of the page being done,or does it assume to do the page I have open at the time? I didn't see anywhere that asked for which page I am publishing.
I'm going to rename...be right back...

P.S. Thanks for following, I was hoping you would. :)

Re: not getting my site, but a parked page

Your site is still parked with GoDaddy. You need to go back to your CP with them and change your nameservers to be the ones of your VH account. And the page published is always the one you are currently working on (on your screen)

You don't just want to change the nameservers - you need to take it out of "parked" status also.

Re: not getting my site, but a parked page

            Thanks for the replies.
I went to godaddy and changed the nameservers. They had them as "park31.secureserver.net". Is this something that they can change on their own without telling me? Because a few weeks ago I had gone in to change the nameservers, which I changed to the Vodahost ones, but they were different today. I never approved that change...
I also never parked it, at least not that I know of.
Are these the reasons that my published page isn't found? And do I just have to wait for the changes to kick in to view my page?

Sorry if I'm asking a question that may seem obvious to you all...

Yes, changing the nameservers doesn't work if you have them parked. No they don't do that - you would have to. If you made the wrong selection accidentally - that is one of the default selections. You need to go in and "unpark" the domain - then go in and make sure the nameservers are pointed correctly.

Re: not getting my site, but a parked page

                Hi Beth, thanks,
Gosh, I think I'm in over my head...
First, I tried to "unpark" but couldn't find that option. I'll have to go look again.
Second, just to be sure, I used the nameservers "ns19.vodahost.com" and ns20,etc --is this correct?

                    Indeed, it is up!
It managed to do that sometime within the last time I looked for it and reading replies and checking out godaddy and coming back again...

                    Hooray!

Thank you all again for your help.

                    Sincerely,
