  • Text added to template has white box....

    Hi there.

I have read all the answers to similar problems but I cannot get rid of the white box around the text I have added to the template I'm using.

It looks great on the builder site, but preview has the white box.

I have tried to change background colour to same as font, but for some reason it won't stay that way and always goes back to white. I cann't find the default button mentioned. I'm nearly in tears - thanks to my husband's coffee making I'm nearly sane enough to try anything...again!

    www.bulgairaextreme.com/index.html - I think I've got that right. (IP Address 75.126.124.163)

This was all OK until last night I tried to publish my home page (index) and this morning was instructed to download the new version of this - I won't go into that fiasco. Now I'm trying to re-do what I had already done and it's not going to plan.

    PLEASE HELP!!!
    thanks for all your help!

When you right click on a text box, you see the background color menu. at the top of that there is a default option that is called AUTOMATIC. Whenever I have automatic selected, it makes the text background clear. I hope that helps though.

When I right click, go into properties the background colour is already defaulted to automatic (and is the same colour as the font).

Each time I click the text box open the font, colour etc have not been saved to the text box, even though I have clicked onto save.

Thanks anyway - anyone else with advice?

Re: Text added to template has white box....

Your URL didnt work, but I still got in. When you are naming your web pages, you cant name them with spaces like
                    Test Home Page

you have to add dashes or underlines like:

                    Test_Home_Page.html or
                    Test-Home-Page.html

I see what you mean about the Bulgaria Extreme part.
I once had a page named with spaces like you have and it caused all kinds of link errors all over my whole website. I dont know why but once i fixed the name thing, i was able to fix the other problems.. try that first and just see what happens.

Re: Text added to template has white box....

Listen I really appreciate all your help. Will have to look at the naming of pages - Do the -_ have to appear on the nav bars, or just in the URL?

As for the other problem with the white box - to save my sanity for another occassion I tried again from scratch. I did my text box first - formatted and all, then added the template imaeg, then right clicked the template image and 'put to back' (or whatever it is) and HEY PRESTO it worked!

I really think it really has something to do with the amount and order of the layers, with page background, template, then added images/texts etc. But I will save this headache for another day. I'm just happy now that my new saved working template has NO WHITE BOX!!!

Thanks for your help..... until next time! X

Re: Text added to template has white box....

im glad you got it all figured out. Remember whatever text you push to the back will appear first on your HTML code... regardless of where it appears on the page... this will be the first text that Search engines will have if your pages get listed. Keep that in mind.
