  • Install phpbb

I have tried to re install a phbb forum but gewt the message
The installation can not be completed:- You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain.
I had one installed but it 'messed up' so I deleted all the bits that I could find. What else do I need to delete to re install.

    Thanks

    Re: Install phpbb

Delete the phpbb files and delete the database, that will completly remove it.

The error you are getting is because you are trying to install it on www.yoursite.com/

but it has to be installed on www.yoursite.com/phpbb (or whatever directory name)

Do you use a Password Protected Directory? Need a way to allow users to make their own account, try my .htaccess Login Script

      Thanks Watdaflip
Yep you are right, I am trying to install in www.mysite.com. Which is what I have done before.
I have installed 2 forums in www.mysite.com/xxxx1 and xxxx2 but wondered why it wouldnt do it the same as my first ever install as well. There doesnt seem to be anything left of the original installation.

        Re: Install phpbb

Go to Cpanel > Manage Mysql Databases > phpmyadmin. Using the list on the left, look for any databases that look like this: username_phpb_.

If there are any there, remove them.

Then, go back through your file manager and make sure there are no files ending with .php, particularly config.php.

          Thanks for the info racefan

I deleted all the mysql databases and started again but still no joy.
I have just done it by installing in their own folders so I have the forums but its just annoying that it wouldn't do it the other way. Anyway its not a real problem coz I have what I want.

          Thanks again.
