is there a way that i can password protect my site. so that if someone wants to visit it, they can only do so with a password.

if you are using Soholaunch, there is a built in password protect feature.

If you are using BlueVoda, there are two ways:

1. By password protecting an entire directory and publishing the pages in there. Please note that this way you neeed to manually create the usernames/passwords, and then pass them over to the users to which you want to allow access. This is a good solution for few users, or a group of users all having the same username/password.
2. If you need to protect pages, but you don't want to create usernames/passwords, or you don't wont to use a protected directory, in other words what you see in mist normal sites, as well as in this forum (where posting is not allowed if you are not registered / loged in) then yu need a login script. I understand that in order to password an entire site, I need to password the directory that houses all of the files for that site. How do I do that?

If i remember well, you can NOT protect the public_html folder. So you only publish there an index page, with links to the other pages that will be in the passord protected folder.
