  • google ranking

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me why, when I google "military statuettes" I get two links to my site on page one, but when I restrict the search to UK only then my site is nowhere?

    Re: google ranking

You haven't moved up in the UK Google search rank tool. I'm not sure that you will - for a few reasons - you aren't a .uk site - and you don't mention UK anywhere on the home page. What sites are listed when you restrict to UK? What do they have that you don't?

      Re: google ranking

Thanks Beth. Now I know what to look for I shall investigate. My son said that maybe it is because it is a .com site rather than .co.uk. If this is the case I do own jamesbartondesign.co.uk. Should I transfer my site to the .co.uk one and if so is a straightforward thing to do?

        Re: google ranking

Where is it most important for you to have the ranking? If it's in the UK - then the UK name should be the first one -you could have the .com redirected to it. If you want the worldwide - keep it on the .com - and have the .co.uk site directed to the .com site.

But, first - do the search as you say - and see what sites are in the top 10 - what are they? All .com, all .co.uk? Some mix? Then look at their optimization. See what changes might help you. And if you aren't sure - feel free to send me some of the url's of those top 10 sites and I'll look at them for you.
