  • Directing multiple links to same window

I have multiple links on one page to other URL's that open in a new window. If that window is left open, how do I make the next link clicked open in that same window, not open another?

    Hi Mike

In edit hyper link box there is target and you can make your choice there. Have a look at the video tutorials it's all there!

Re: Directing multiple links to same window

      Hello Debbie,

Thanks for the reply. I have viewed the tutorials, and understand targeting (I think), what would I name the target? It is not the window the link is in, it is a second window that has already been opened by another link, in which I would like to open the second link, thus closing the first link.

      I hope that is understandable.

      Thanks,

      Mike

Re: Directing multiple links to same window

        Hi Mike

The only links that should open in a new browser window are links that are not on your own website - i.e. - those that go off your site ... this is so that when the person closes that browser window your website is still into view ...

The person must go from one link to another, unless you start a chain of linking, so no - you dont want to do that ...

Re: Directing multiple links to same window

          Hi again,

The links do go off site, to different pages on a single site, that is why I would like one link to overwrite the last, so viewer would only have one additional window open at one time.

lol Debbie ... he's trying awfully hard to trick us, lol

Well I doubt that this is possible, however, King Naval will likely have to tell us ... but I believe a link is a link and it cannot continue unless you started a train of links from one to the other, but in this case Mike cannot since the pages he is linking to are not his own pages, lol ... and besides, what if you started in midstream - would you miss some links, lol ...

no best to close the pages and grab a new link, lol ...

Re: Directing multiple links to same window

                Hey all,

Thanks for trying, My intent was to save visitors from having to think too much, and my not having to instruct to much.

I did see a recent post about closing a window with a script, I may try to incorporate that somehow to run before new link is opened.

                Thanks again,

                Mike
