  • Google Adwords Explained

As consumers, the majority of us use Google to search for information, products, and services, because Google finds exactly what we are looking for. If you are a business owner and want people in need of your products or services to find your website, paying Google for one its advertising services, such as Google AdWords, is a surefire way to increase web traffic. The issue is not whether Google can help, because they have garnered proven results. The question is only how much they can help and at what cost.

The Google AdWords program has more than doubled some of its customers' monthly traffic by placing relevant ads along the right-hand side of its organic search listings. If you have ever used Google's search engine, you have seen AdWords advertisements listed under "Sponsored Links." If you sign up for Google AdWords, your ads will only appear to people who enter keyphrases that are relevant to your company's offerings.

To further increase traffic, Google pays companies for displaying AdWords advertisements on their websites. If, for example, your company specializes in discounted furniture, you would pay Google for advertising space on all searches for "discounted furniture." Google would not only display the AdWords ad on its own site, but also display the ad on informational sites dedicated to discounted furniture of all kinds.

Google AdWords should not, of course, be the entirety of a marketing campaign, but it is often an excellent addition to an overall strategy. Google AdWords is a pay-per-click service, meaning you only pay when the advertising results in traffic. Before you start using Google AdWords, I highly recommend watching the Getting Started With Google Adwords video at which is available after you log into your account. Read all of the Google support guides before you start bidding. You can spend a lot of money if you don't know what you're doing.

I feel compelled to respond. Google adwords are good for black hackers and s****ers. Google couldn't pay me enough to use their lousy adword program. I dettest this practice, everytime the topic comes up its makes me sick. Nothing like having you content copied so 50,000 other people can make some change off your site. Not to to mention the harm it can potentially cause to your serps. Junk!!!!

          pet121,
I can't wait to see your post about this topic. You've been proven right on several occasions, especially regarding the search engines submitting. We don't need to submit to Google. Over-submitting to Google may even kill the site because of the spam issue.
After 3 weeks of launching, one of my sites has been ranked #7 out of 390 on Google search with the same name without submitting to any search engine. I guess the choice of keywords has some definite importance.

Yes, I'm very interested in this topic as well. I've been using Google Adwords to boost traffic to my site! It has seemed to generate lots of hits, however, I don't know how "good" the hits really are since I have YET to receive an order through my web site. =(

              Re: Google Adwords Explained

well I seemed to have sparked some interest in this very touchy subject. Be prepared to be confused.

Google adwords A relatively recent invention designed to boost traffic to websites. A keyword based advertising network that enables you to advertise directly on relevant search result pages and on content pages throughout the web through the adsense network. Keep the word ad sense in mind.

Say a company had a a certain product to sell be it a phone. Google will produce a set of matching web pages and a list of adwords advertisements for various related companies. These companies in turn bid on these keywords. When some one clicks on the keyword the company pays google a fee.

Ad sense is also ran by google and is a network which google allows you to add relevant ads to pages on your own site. Now this makes it possible for the web site to make money based on unique key words.

Now the important part. This is what makes google adwords invention so sick. Remember this word
s****er site. A s****er site is a site that used a automated software program to basically mirror your site in hopes of making ad sense money. Now mirror sites are almost duplicate to your own but view entirely different. This is important because we all know search engines will ban mirrored sites if their bots cannot firgure it out on their own. Or it may affect your serps (search engine page ranking system). Now yahoo has the worst bot its old and drunk all the time.

I wont't drop a full link but go to yahoo and type in onlinegambling7 there you will find plenty of inbound links 98% of them are s****ers sites. People who have s****ed my site. Usually they make reference to you full domain. Their bottom link usually takes the form of nu-pagina.nl/casino. there should be a html at the end.

Getting bored yet? I am currently not being indexed by yahoo I assume its because of the attacks on my site. One day I had 500,000 inbound links all s****ers. I have managed to decrease that number through a few techniques. I am okay with Google and Msn, In fact google gave me a page rank of four. Their bots are smarter than the yahoo bot.

Page rank is another google invention. PR is a measure of you sites relevancy for specific key words and key phrases. But most important its a measure of other site pointing to yours. PR has nothing to do with content. I am not a big PR buff but many people are and if you site ever gets past PR5 be prepared for some really nice offers. I won't go too much further into PR save it for another day.

So what do think of Google Adwords?

I hope this makes some sense. This is why Google's Ad Words is a lousy program because it promotes content thieves, s****ers, and black hatters. pet121

Julie you have a very well designed site. If google gives you a Page Rank which is good, be on guard.

                  Re: Google Adwords Explained

I started to use Yahoo's program too, but it did nothing for me and didn't generate near the hits that Google did for me. So, I turned off my Yahoo Adwords program.

My site has been up since October, and I still have a Page Rank of "0". How long does it typically take to get a Page Rank? I've been trying to get some good link exchanges, and have some nicely ranked sites that have been willing to add my link to their site, however, I think most of the sites I ask to exchange with turn me down... and I think it's because I'm a Page Rank "0" site. =(

So, it's a bit of a catch 22... it helps you to achieve a good Page Rank by having your site link on lots of other relevant sites, but a lot of sites wont add your link until you have a good Page Rank! =P Ugh.

Thanks very much for that info... I'll keep an eye out if my site ever gets ranked!

I tried to send you an e-mail message, but your profile isn't set up to accept e-mails.

Sure, I'd love to learn how to achieve a page rank without links. I've had a lot of sites turn down my exchange offers. =( Makes me wonder sometimes if my site just doesn't look nice enough. But, I think it may have to do with the fact that I have a "0" PR right now as well.

As far as my goals for my site... I just would like to sell enough to generate a nice little part time income. I'd like for it to pop up on the first page when someone searches for Fashion Jewelry, Gemstone Jewelry or Handmade Jewelry... along those lines.

You can send me an e-mail if you like... I'll try to be sure my profile enables e-mail messages.

Thanks for the offer of assistance! =)

                          Re: Google Adwords Explained

Hi Pete - I have just checked the google page rank of my site and it appears to be 3/10 if I have used the right thing. From what you are saying this appears to be on the right track!

I am not getting the number of visitors though that I would like - I don't sell anything through the site, therefore can't afford to pay for promotion programmes. Any suggestions?

                            Julie/Trish

I will tell you a story which is true. A person I know decided one day she wanted to build a website just for fun. The sight enabled her visitors to build customized greeting cards. As months went by she was getting more and more visitors. Then one day Hallmark contacted her and asked if she would consider putting a ad up for them. She figured why not? because of her success she set the price 2000.00/month plus a link from their homepage. Hallmark agreed. Soon afterwards many vendors were asking for various things. Needless to say what started out as a project ended in her making a very good living from it.

Big corperations do look at what they call movers and shakers and will jump on the opportunity to have their company just advertised on a high traffic web site.

A pr0 to pr4 is not bad, but get a pr5 or higher things begin to happen. If you are interested in boosting page rank there are a number of ways of doing it. Some sites will offer to put your link up for a price. Usually its not that expensive. I know a pr7 site willing to do this for 400.00/year some 25.00/month ect.. if its just a inboud link, meanning one way, their site to yours if does not has to be relevant to your site. But if you do a cross-link/link exchange be sure the exchange is relevant to yours. Add links slow and easy for best results. Imagine this for a moment if you managed to convince say The White House to link your site that would be at least a pr9

There are lots of sites out there willing to exchange links with a pr0 sites. What Happenned to me I am little unsure. I linked to a partner who was a pr0 i was a pro then 3 months later we were both pr4.

For traffic, I suggest joining forums relative to your site. Get to know the people in the forum. Get to know the forum members they will be more than happy to help you out with you products and traffic. My traffic is low this month but because I am doing some renovations. But I know I can send my traffic through the roof by posting on forums. This is ONE way of increasing traffic. Once you get to know the forum start dropping you link, if its okay with the forum. In most cases it is.

Last month I ran a promotion I averaged 300 unique visits a day and this was from posting on three forums relative to my site.

Trish a pr3 is a good start, Julie pr0 do not worry about too much. Try some of things i have mentioned.

Like I always say a huge topic. But I would like to see every BlueVoda Member succeed!!
People actually pay money for this info?
