how to add thumbnail to view topic mode?

Hi,

we are building a phpbb forum, installed with fanstastico and all luckily went well.
We're now in the stage of customizing our forum, and we have a question. We would love it if someone is able to help us out.

We've installed a mod that allows us to add an image to each forum and we're so pleased with how it looks that we would like to continue this mod in the view topic mode. Not to illustrate in what forum you are, but to add images as a thumbnail beside or under the thread title. We're a download site, SIMS2 related, and because of that we use a lot of images, and it would be really nice if we were able to show thumbnails in view topic mode, so that visitors are able to decide which thread they want to see a little easier.

(altered it a bit so it would fit our cosmetic wishes, but this mod is only focused on the index page. Are we able to change that? Or is there another mod out there?)

We have seen this on other websites, and we're just dying to find out how it should be done.

I'm sure there is some mod for phpbb that is atleast close to what you need. (I don't know of one off hand, I switch from phpbb a couple years back, kinda out of the loop on that).

If all else fails try finding a script that will manage image uploads to your site, and will not only upload, but also generate a thumbnail as well as spit out the bb code people need to add to their post to show a thumbnail with a link to the full image.

Somehow we have been unable to find the right mod. We've asked and checked, and came up with nothing, unfortunately. We did however find the perfect mod, vBulletin though:

Did you do all the edits? The mod you used is designed to show images in viewtopic as well.

thanks for responding!

you are right, this mod does add an image to viewtopic mode. This is however one image for the entire content of the topics in the particular forum. The image is located above all the topics, aligned to the center. This is however not what we're looking for.

A) we have been able to succesfully add custom images to each forum we want, as you can see on our index page.

B) In viewtopic mode we want to do something similar, add a thumbnail to each topic title, showing the image that is to be found inside the thread. This means that there will be a lot of different thumbnails, instead of the one that the earlier described mod provides.

We played with the coding a bit, and as a result we found we were able to add a blank image to each topic title, you know, the one with the tiny red cross meaning there is no image to be found. We, unfortunately, were unable to link this blank image to the folder where we have stored our custom images. So in short, we're trying, but nothing seems to work..
