  • Google bot denied access

I use Google webmaster tools on all my sites, however I am just using it presently on a client's site and the second I verified the site I got all 16 pages showing up as not found, plus a http 403 error:

You don't have permission to access /cgi-bin/ on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I also have this from my error file log in my CP:

[Thu Sep 20 16:19:42 2007] [error] [client 88.107.163.142] File does not exist: /home/rrokngem/public_HTML/403.shtml
[Thu Sep 20 16:19:42 2007] [error] [client 88.107.163.142] attempt to invoke directory as script: /home/rrokngem/public_HTML/cgi-bin
[Thu Sep 20 16:16:57 2007] [error] [client 88.107.163.142] File does not exist: /home/rrokngem/public_HTML/403.shtml
[Thu Sep 20 16:16:57 2007] [error] [client 88.107.163.142] attempt to invoke directory as script: /home/rrokngem/public_HTML/cgi-bin

I have never encountered this before. Anyone???

    Ramsey

Is the site running a cgi script? Those are odd errors. Whats the permissions on the files? and why are the extentions shtml?
(edit.. I know the s is for server side include.. but it would be my guess its not being correctly used or you are NOT permitted to use it.)

        Hi Ramsey,

I answered you this in an email. Let me know if you have issues with the redirection.

your syntax should be like this

All on one line in the .htacess file. Use notepad to edit your downloaded file, just in case theres anything already written in there.. usually there isnt, but just in case. Save it as .htacess and reup'
