  • Unable to open a document in FrontPage

Hi! Yesterday I started to upload files to my website, I tried to use FrontPage to edit some of them, but I couldn't open anything.

I can navigate and see all the files in the "Open file" box of FP but when i made it to open, a message of error appear:

"FrontPage can't open an FTP file"

Also i tried with BlueVoda and the same problem, a box saying

    "Impossible to Open Document"

(Both messages appear in spanish but I translated to english, I don't know if in the english version the box says the same)

    Any suggestions?

    Nice day

Re: Unable to open a document in FrontPage

try rebooting your computer....FrontPage and BlueVoda are NOT cross compatible.
They can NOT edit each others files.

Re: Unable to open a document in FrontPage

Hi *****, really nice of you for answering =D

Ok, I didn't use Bluevoda to write the pages, so this won'n be the problem.

I rebooted my PC and the problem with FP is the same; the exact text in the box in spanish is:
"Frontpage no puede abrir archivos de servidores FTP"
      translating,
"Frontpage can't open files from FTP servers"

So, if FP can't open files from FTP... why it has the option to add and modify FTP servers? ja ja ja; but i'm not sure if it's a FP installation error, or if it's something I have bad configured in my server options.

      Another suggestion?

I dont know what FTP server you are talking about. The files are on your
        local computer correct?

Mmm yes, the files are in my local computer. But I want to edit them directly on the server, instead of opening one file in my local computer, edit something, and upload and rewrite it on the server, and afterwards notice it didn't looked like i wanted and open one more time the file in my local computer, edit, upload... etc.

I used to do this a year ago, thats why the FP extensions... or not? i'm I lost in the space?

Do not ry to edit directly on the server. Edit on your local computer first and upload to the server.
