  • Adding 3rd party counter to Blue Voda page

    My domain name is recipesdietsandmore.com. I added a Javascript to my page for a counter from Stat-Tracker. Here is the code, which I entered in a "script" element box:

    <!-- Start of StatCounter Code -->
    <script type="text/javascript">
    var sc_project=2950750;
    var sc_invisible=0;
    var sc_partition=26;
    var sc_security="424c0f0d";
    </script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="<A href="http://www.statcounter.com/counter/counter_xhtml.js"></script><noscript><div">http://www.statcounter.com/counter/counter_xhtml.js"></script><noscript><div class="statcounter"><a class="statcounter" href="<A href="http://www.statcounter.com/"><img">http://www.statcounter.com/"><img class="statcounter" src="http://c27.statcounter.com/2950750/0/424c0f0d/0/" alt="free hit counter" /></a></div></noscript>
    <!-- End of StatCounter Code -->

    In preview mode, the counter works fine, but Internet Explorer pops up one of those warnings about "protecting" my computer by preventing this page from running Active-X scripts. If I click on that warning and tell it to "allow blocked content", my perfectly good counter changes to this error message:

    Code corrupted. Insert fresh copy. -->

    And when I publish the page, what shows up instead of my counter is that error message. I know it probably has something to do with Internet Explorers attempts to "protect" me (and I DO wish Explorer wouldn't try to be so "helpful", as it usually ends up only being a nuisance!)

    I've entered all my domain names under "internet options" as "trusted sites". Explorer simply ignores that. I tried changing the security options to stop it from trying to block Active-X scripts and it got hysterical about "you have changed your security settings! Your computer is at risk!" and became such a nuisance that I had to put the settings back just to shut it up."

    Does anybody have any idea how I can prevent Explorer from trashing my counter script, or whatever is happening, so that my counter will work and I won't get that error message showing up on my published web pages?

    Thanks,

    You don't need to put it in a javascript box - just put it in either an html box - or open the home pages html (right click on the page, click for html and add it to the body of the page.)

    I hope you aren't putting a visible counter on the site - it's unprofessional for a professional site - but statcounter has excellent stats if that's what you're using it for :)

      Invisible counters - but I have to have them on the pages to get the stats. Thanks for the help!

        No you don't! Putting a stat counter on your site is tacky, unprofessional and will give you 100% INACCURATE readings. Visable or not.

        Go to your control panel where you will find one of the best stat programs already built into your account called Awstats.
        Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.

          Use stat counter - they have an invisible option - you find your stats ON THEIR SITE.

          You also have the stats Ramsey has mentioned. Personally I use both - they show different things.

          What I'm saying you don't want is the counter to show how many visitors to the site showing on the page :)
