  • H1 & H2

    Hello all,

When I insert text, and then want to ad <h1>...</h1>, do I do this before (ie <h1> before tag) and after (ie </h1> after tag) or do I put it in the middle (forgot that term)? I know to right click & select the HTML option, but unsure of where to put the info..

Also, does it help if I have an image that's named something pertinent to the content (or keywords) and have the h2 or h1 stuff in the pic html?

Does it hurt to have capital H's (ie <H1>) ?

    Thank you!!

    Re: H1 &amp; H2

You do the h1 before the TEXT heading that you want to be the headline.

You could do pics or alt tags as h1, but you wont get any credit for them, as they will only be seen if your image doesnt show up. SO.. they wont be doing any good for anyone but the SE, or the sight impaired who might HEAR them. The SE will then scan this and know it, and discount your h1 totally. Bottom line is design for the visitor.

It makes no difference if you capitalize it. Browser is going to render it regardless, however, the correct form is lower case.

So I don't have to worry about putting it after as well, or did you mean both before & after & not in the middle?

Yes its before and after. Anytime you open an html tag, script etc you have to also close it. Sorry it wasnt clear. If you dont close it.. all your text will be h1
