  • 550 publishing code

I found errors I wanted to correct in my first BV web site, www.elizabethbaileyportraits.com. When I made a correction and tried to publish, the revision went to my second web site www.gpteas.com. I realized my error and tried to publish again changing the name in the folder field to: public_html/elizabethbaileyportraits.com.
I get Error 550 saying that there is no such file or directory

How do I find out what the name of the folder where additions or revisions to my first web site (www.elizabethbaileyportraits.com) should be published? I am working on the assumption that my server IP, username, and password are the same for both sites.

Gosh, I feel like such a dummy--have been looking for hours for the solution

You don't want .com in the address. You want:

    public_html/elizabethbaileyportraits

          Beth,

I am trying to correct errors on www.elizabethbaileyportraits.com A few days ago the publishing address you gave me worked. Today I am getting the same 550 error message. I have deleted the folder name and retyped it, double checked my spelling and am out of ideas. If it worked a few days ago, why won't it work now?

The 550 error means you are inputting something wrong. You aren't putting the .com back in there are you? It's going to be an error on your part - unfortunately, I can only guess at them.

Depends on how you set it up...try both

                public_html/elizabethbaileyportraits
                and
                public_html/elizabethbaileyportraits.com
I think that my first web site with BH was not set up correctly (thanks to me). I have found that the only way I can publish a page to the original site built in BV, www.elizabethbaileyportraits.com, is by using the folder "public_html/" with no extension.

                1) Do I need to move my files so that they have an extension after "public_html"?

                2) If so, where and how is this done?

                3) Will moving the site to a different folder have an effect on the site?

Today I am trying to publish a page I revised on the second site, www.gpteas.com The page is http://www.gpteas.com/iced_teas.php and my revisions don't show up. I am publishing to the folder "public_html/gtpeas" which is the folder I used before switching to the portrait site to correct another problem. I get a "Successfully Published" message but the revised page doesn't show up. I put a text box under the title on the page which says "TESTING" and moved it to the front so I am certain my revisions are not there. I looked in the FPT Manager and saw that my page with the same name is there but it was last published on Jan 30.

Even more curious, I am able to publish other pages that I have revised using this same folder.

                4) So where is this page going? and why?
                5) A solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

                  Re: 550 publishing code

                  Barbara,
The original site is only supposed to be published to public_html.

I think by some of the previous posts, I thought the portrait site was the add-on - but it's the opposite.

So, publishing is CORRECT for the portrait site.

If you had the typo you have above on the tea site, that would keep it from publishing correcly - you show:
                  "public_html/gtpeas"
                  and you need:
                  publich_html/gpteas

                    Beth,
That was a typo here on my part, sorry. Everything I have published to my site www.gpteas.com has been done under a folder named public_html/gpteas. There must be an error on this page so I'll try redoing it today. http://www.gpteas.com/iced_teas.php Everything else appears to be publishing just fine.
