  • My background

My pages have a black background with white text, however when I look at the index page on the web (both my laptop and others) the background is white. If I refresh the page using f5 the black background appears, but visitors may not necessarily know to do this.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happending.

Works for me! Might be due to browser caching.

        Re: My background won't appear

        Works fine for me.
What normally happens is that your site was already in your cache, maybe with a white background when you were still testing it. If you change the background and open it in IE, the cache might not be updated. That is why you press the F5 to refresh it. Customers opening it for the first time or after pc power up should not have a problem.
        Bless you

          Re: My background won't appear

I didn't want to start a new thread, but i'm having the same problem. Only my background doesn't show up no matter WHAT i do.
It works fine in the bluevoda website builder, but not once published. I have about 40 pages to my website and not one background works.

I'm sure it's something simple but I don't know what.
          jpg's okay for backgrounds, right?

            Re: My background won't appear

quick update: i tried a whole new image and it worked fine. the trouble is, i don't want that image. It seems that no matter how i resize this image, it won't work as a background and i can't figure out why.
            It just won't show up

Rename the image. Make it a short but descriptive to your website name. No spaces, slashes or any other symbols.

                  Re: My background

thanks all. i think the problem was what carbonterry indicated. the file needed to be renamed. It DID have several symbols in it.

i didn't realize that would be a problem.

                  thanks!

I'm also having a problem with my background...I can't get it to stop tiling--just want the one image, not 4. How do I change that, or can I?

                      Re: My background

The image must be as large as your background. i.e. 800px X 600px
If is is smaller than your page it will tile.
