Dear VodaHost,

I have successfully published my subfolder in the public folder. (for example: public_html/thankyou)

Enquiries:
(1) When I key in the full URl address of the subfolder in the internet(http//:www.infiniteinternetsales.com/thankyou) (http://www.infiniteinternetsales.com/thankyou)), what I see is as below instead of what I have published. So did I do anything wrong or did I miss out in any steps? What should I do next?

Index of /thankyou

Name (http://www.infiniteinternetsales.com/thankyou/?N=D) Last modified (http://www.infiniteinternetsales.com/thankyou/?M=A) Size (http://www.infiniteinternetsales.com/thankyou/?S=A) Description (http://www.infiniteinternetsales.com/thankyou/?D=A)

http://www.infiniteinternetsales.com/icons/text.gifthankyou.html (http://www.infiniteinternetsales.com/thankyou/thankyou.html) 07-Jan-2006 11:27 1k

(2) I am still abit confused with the usage of the public folder. How do I access to the public folder? What is the function of the public folder?

Please assist me. Appreicate your kind attention.

Every folder & sub folder needs a starting point. This is defined by a
an "index" page. Please insert an index page in your sub folder.

But how do I add an index page in the subholder? Please advise. Thanks!

The same way you added an index to your public_html folder. Create (or rename) a page as index, and publish it to the subfolder, as in: public_html/subfolder_name_here.

I created this home page where I named as 'index'. It was successfully published.

Then I created a new page in BlueVoda and named the page as 'thankyou'. The purpose of this new page is to provide a webpage to activate the Auto Return for Website Payments provided by PayPal. I need to provide a return URL address.

So when I publish this new page, what should I type in the folder column? public_html...... ??

Then what's next?

Please help me! Thanks!!!

Hang on a minute. Why did you publish a subfolder if all you needed was to add a "thank you" page? All you need do is publish the "thank you" page to your public_html directory. Get rid of the subfolder.

I followed your instruction & just published the "thank you" page to my public_html dircetory. What is the next step? How do I know the URL address of this "thank you" page?

Now I have another problem. I edited a minor change in my home page. But after I published it again, I can't see the changes at all. Please advise. Thanks!

The url to the new page is yoursite.com/thankyou.html.

You don't see the changes to your home page because your browser has cached the page for your convenience, and all you need do is clear your cache and everything will look fine. In case you don't know how to do that, here's a shortcut ***** posted: http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/personal-computer-forum/3426-help-my-browser-caching.html

Hi guys, I hit the 'F5' button many many times to un-clog. But it didn't work. So I installed Window Washer. Proceed the 'wash'. But nothing happen.

Then I open a fresh broswer window & hit 'F5' button many many times again. Still, all in vain.

HELP!!!

I got to leave the desk now. Will be back to solve the issue.
Thanks guys!!!

When all else fails, after following the instructions to the letter, simply reboot your pc. If you couldn't clear your cache the simple way, it means your pc is storing some things in memory as well and a reboot will not only flush all that out, but it will also make your browser run faster.

Indeed all failed after following the instructions to the letter, even after I have reboot my PC.

The amendment was made in BlueVoda. It was reflected when I preview the browser. Then I proceed to publish the revised web page. But nothing was changed in the web site.

What should I do now? =(

What was the change you made? Be specific, I'll see how it looks on my end.

Hello racefan20,

It was a minor change. Then I realized that the revision didn't take place immediately as it was in the past. After many tries, I simply shut down my PC till the next time. I juz checked the website, it is okie now.

In a few days' time when the website is sent to VodaHost for submission to the search engines, when I have amendments in the web site, can I publish again? Will the changes be captured?

I've another issue. While at work & using my office PC (a laptop), the website look different from the one I see from my PC (desktop) at home. The line spacing is wider & further from each paragraph. Why is that so?

Thank you so much for your kind assistance. =)

The changes are there the minute you edit and publish the page, just they're not always viewable by you because of browser caching. The rest of the world can see them fine, though.

As far as the site looking different on different pc's, you're looking at either (or both) different resolution settings or you've used a font that isn't installed on all pc's.
