    Re: First Ever Site

    Welcome Mike,
    A couple of comments:
    • Because you have used a flyer.jpg picture for your home page there is little to no content which the SE's can use to allocate listings.
    • Centre your pages
    • on you 'nav buttons' the mouseover text colour is unreadable.
    Good Luck,
    Andrew

      Re: First Ever Site

      Hi Mike,

Add your full website link to your signature as it's easier for VH's to find your site eg.www.mikespizza.us/
      • Consider using a tweeked version of your 'history page' as your 'home page'
      • Is your site an advert for the restaurant or for online or take away orders? Both ways you'll want it to promote your restaurant, but it's falling short at the moment because of the little keyword rich content. Remember that each page is another way people can land on your site. (presently the only way visitors would find your pages is to search for 'wings or salads' etc and these are way to broad for someone to find your site)
      • If you would like people to order online consider a contact us or order form.
      • One of your biggest keywords is your location (west Jefferson pizza restaurant etc) and the easiest way to promote this is by having your contact details on all of your pages. Another method is to include a 'how to find us' or 'store location' page with directions and a map.
      • Spelling on lunch page TRY THEESE
      Cheers,
      Andrew

You are off to a good start, but you need to lock your nav bars into the same position on each page. If you flip thru your pages, you will see they are moving all over the place..same with where your content starts.. Try and keep it the starting in the same place on each page.. it will make the transitions flow better.
Ditto on the lack of content.
          Cheers

            Hey Mike,
You have a great start. All your pages aren't the same width, or you have something hanging off the right side. The pizza page, Mex. page and others are wider, and even some words are cut off. Make all your pages the same, preferably around 800, and keep eveything to the left side and then on the properties click center page. it makes me hungry reading your site. Keep up the good cooking, and creating.

                rharpe1,

In BV click or highlight the nav bars>>edit>>Lock
This will lock you nav bars in possition, but you can still edit them as per usual.

                Cheers,

                  Re: First Ever Site

                  rharpe1,

Plan your site (putting some thought into what pages you need eg. home/restaurant menu/online orders/directions and map/special offers and discounts/functions or outside catering/about us or restaurant profile etc) You can also mention whether you cater for kids, veggies, kosher and halaal etc. In trying to strengthen or create your 'corporate ID' think about carrying your bussiness logo, tag lines, mascot, restaurant colours etc through to the site. Marry your site's 'look and feel' to your present or target audience eg bright and fun if your clientele are kids etc

Create a template or layout and look which you would like to carry through your website (800wide x 600-1000long)
                  • insert your various methods of navigation (side or below header etc)
                  • click centre page in browser
                  • add header or banner (usually logo and or signature picture and tag line)
                  • add footer (nav bar if page long, copyright and contact details)
Lock all and Save as template (reuse for various pages, adding and changing content and pictures as you go along)

                  Cheers,
                  Andrew

                    Hi,
When you are working on your pages, it is very important, that the a layout is the same on each page for anything that repeats itself on the subsequent pages.. to do this, you must click on the layout tab at the top of the page you are working on. Here you will find the ability to place a grid on your page that is only visible to you in the working stage. You can also place a virticle or horizontal line on your page, which is also movable to your needs to assist you lining up different additions, be it photos, text or other add ons. Once you have things all lined up, click on Edit which is next to File and then on Lock All. This will help you avoid inadvertantly moving things without knowing..You can always unlock individual parts of the page by right clicking on them

                    Cheers

I don't really see the need for using a vertical or horizontal line to line your site content up, this is not an exact way of getting things in line. If you look at the bottom right hand corner of your web builder you will see x and y coordiantes. These are there to help you do such a task and means your placements ARE exact.
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.

                        Hi
Nice logo. Do you deliver? The yellow copy on the home page seems a little too long, maybe bullet points and an 'about us' page if people want to know more. Also, for the future think about having some photos of your food. Visual suggestion is powerful stuff. Good for you for getting this far. I read the suggestions to learn how to do this. Very helpful and really great of the people that take the time to answer in such detail!
                        All the best
