what goes in the index page

New to this.
When I went through the tutorial it showed how to mark the index page ... it appeared to be a blank page so that is the way I saved mine. Then I had my second page and saved it with the keywords, title page etc.
I tried to call the page up and it comes up blank with no name.
I am asuming I should have put something on the index page because someone sent me an answer to a preevious question saying that the index page is what people see when they go to my site.

I will appreciate any help y'all can give me.

I think you maybe confused some what.

If you click on the websites in my signature, each one is going to my 'index' page.

In each case, in BV, I saved the first page i want to my visitors to see as index.

If you are new, i wouldn't get bogged down with keywords or perhaps page titles just yet (you can work on these later). Just concern yourself with building and publishing and linking your pages.

I know when I started out I must have watched the tutorials a 100 times before it sank in.
