  • Form Spam Question

    Morning All,

I have got two forms on my site for contacting me and would like to add a box to type in word or number or combo of both to stop the massive amount of just that comes to me through the forms.

I am sure I have seen this done somewhere on here before but have been unable to locate it and also couldn't find anything in knowledgebase.

Any chance that one of you good people could help?

      Re: Form Spam Question

I have eight forms on my site. One of them gets bogus (gobbledygook) submittals, about 1-2 per month. I've used Captcha but that didn't stop them. Presently have a "5+5" field, which is more user-friendly to valid customers, but the bad guys still get through. If anybody has any other ideas, please let me know.

      The form is: http://www.irstnorcal.com/quote_request_form.php

      Thanks much.

        Re: Form Spam Question

5 + 5 is no longer an effective block; spambots are able get past ones like that.

Questions like "If you take ten donuts, eat three and return two, how many donuts do you still have?" and "How old is a man who has lived half a century?" are much more effective.

he could be 63... or 67...or 78.... he has still lived half a century.

          Sorry Tom!

They are annoying these spammers, unfortunately every thing we think of using to stop them, they find something to break it! I just got myself into the habit of ignoring and deleting, don't even need to open them to see if they are spam or not, you get used to it.
