  • Adding a sitemap???

I am presently trying to add a sitemap to my http://Martech-Inc.biz webpage.

Problem I am having is that I created the page templates. When I try to add the sitemap to my homepage it appears to sho the following at the top of the page beneath the header -- http://Martech-Inc.biz

I noticed there was no way to upload the sitemap to my Homepage in the file manager area.

Is having a sitemap on ones page a necessity or is it for some other un-beknownst to me factor at play here?

Anyone know how I can include the sitemap onto a templated page?

Also tried using the html and coding the page with the sitemap info, but came up to a brick wall.

    Thank you

Sitemaps are used to let search engine crawlers trace your pages. This, because sometimes, especialy with drop down menus, the crawlers are not able to follow the links in order to trace your pages. so you go through these steps: create your sitemap.xml file using ror or any other sitemapper. Then, in your homepage, simply include an image, f.e. a small ror button, linked to the sitemap.xml file. The crawlers "see" the link to your sitemap file, go there, open the sitemap.xml file, and find all the links you have put in it. If your sitemapper allows for it, make a submission to Google, providing the exact sitemap.xml file in your site.

Ok… I’m definitely a cavewoman! I’ve been doing some research and made a sitemap in xml format… My new problem is that because my website is a template I don’t seem to have the ability to upload a file to a page… I can insert pictures and add text… I’ve read what you guys are saying but it sounds a little complicated…

Are you saying I can upload the sitemap file to another site (sitemapper) and then put a link to it on my homepage?

        Hopelessly lost… Please help.

You upload the xml file in your site. Then you put a link (it can be a text, or image link) to this xml file. Crawlers get in your home page, "see" the link, find the xml file, and from there all your pages links contained in this xml file.
