  • First page publishing failed - Please help

I joined VodaHost end of September but I have not yet published anything as I was looking for the best ways to design it (Well, I was also working on a totally different task, translating the windows, error messages and user's manual of an English software into Spanish). I have read many of the threads and I have stolen a few ideas from other pages in Internet. I wanted to include navaldesign's trick for single menu page, so I tried to publish an unfinished page, just to check how it worked. The attempt to publish failed, so I am asking you to help me. This is what I did:

    1) I made the home page and tested it in Preview, within FF and IE.
    2) As it seemed to work OK, I saved it as "index.bvp"
    3) I tried to publish it, just to see how it worked in the actual virtual world.
    4) I used "File - Publish ... "
    5) In the Publish Web Site window, I entered the Server IP, Master Username, Master Password, as provided in the mail "Login Information" (copy and paste, to avoid typing mistakes)
    6) I left the Folder as "public_html" and Files "Publish all files" (default choices)
    7) I marked "Remember my username and password."
    I clicked on "Publish"
    9) The "Publishing" window appeared and the progress bar was filled.
    10) The window "AffiliSys - BlueVoda" appeared, with the message "Successfully published!"
    11) I clicked on OK.
    12) Now, when typing my site URL "http://www.alfil-sa.com" in FireFox or IE, I am directed to the VodaHost site. My page alfil-sa.com is not shown.

What did I wrong or have I missed?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    here is your problem:

Name Server: DNS1.NAME-SERVICES.COM (has 4,274,917 domains)
    Name Server: DNS2.NAME-SERVICES.COM

You need to go into your Billing account and change the DNS to the 2 vodahost servers that are in your welcome email

When you have done that, then the change should take place within 24 hrs.

Here is a step by step tutorial on how to do it.
    Have fun

Re: First page publishing failed - Please help

      Hello David:

Thanks a lot for your rush reply.

In my VH Billing Services I found 5 DNS servers, named "dns1.name-services.com" thru "dns5.name-services.com".

I edited the first 2 of them to read "ns1-voda30.com" & "ns2.voda30.com" (without the initial d, as thatīs the way they are listed in my welcome e-mail) and submitted the changes.

      Did I understand you correctly?

What are the other DNS servers for? Should I replace them also to read ns3.voda30.com, etc.), even if they are not mentioned in the welcome e-mail?
