  • Can someone help me install a guestbook?

    Hi everyone!

I wanted to ask to see if someone could help me install a guestbook.

I've opened it and customized it already and saved it as a .php -
Now do I just upload it the regular way or
Do I open blueFTP and just drag it to the right???

I've gone to see the tuturial but I didn't get the bottom text.
    Tuturial: http://www.vodahost.com/vodatalk/blu...uest-book.html

Bottom text: This is the part I didn't get!

    1. Upload 'guestbookdb.php' on your server using BlueFTP.
So do I save it as this name or can I save it in another name but with the .php?

    2. Change the permissions of 'guestbookdb.php' to 777 otherwise you won't be able to write data. Where do I find the permissions??? - Found it!

You can use the FTP Manager add-on (BlueFTP) to upload and change permissions of the 'guestbookdb.php' file.

    a) Login to the FTP server of your website using the BlueFTP.
    Ok.

    b) Browse to the folder where you've published the guestbook.
    Ok.

    c) Upload 'guestbookdb.php'
Does this mean to just drag it to the right side (remote?)

    d) Select the file and use Properties to set the permissions to 777
    Found it.

You only have to do this once.

    That's pretty much it!

    Thank you ahead of time

Re: Can someone help me install a guestbook?

when you publish the page that you created your guestBook on, then the correct file will be created on your website.(no need to upload)
When you make the first entry in the GB the guestbookdb.php' file will then be created.
Now is when you change permissions to 777

    see updated GB instructions here:
    Have fun

      Hi Dave!

Thank you for clearing that up.

I did as you said, one thing only, you know the guestbookdb.php' file - well i named it guestbook in a html format and I went to the blueFTP and changed the permission to 777 as mentioned, do you think everything is still ok?

Thanks for your help! Also do you think I can come from time to time to ask you about my website? There is a new opportunity in the adult entertainment business that's gone mlm and I'm creating a team website is there a way for you to check it out to see if everything is ok as well?

      The domain is: http://www.platinumballerz.com
I've also made it a members only with the authorization requirement.

Thanks for your kind help, I've got a long project ahead of me but I'll get it done i suppose.

      Thanks again
      Frank!
