I just became a VH customer after having just about finished designing all my pages. I'm trying to publish my index page but it keeps "timing out" and won't publish successfully. It has a lot of pictures on it and 4 HTML boxes for menubars. But even when I just try to publish a template, without any text or pictures, it also times out and won't publish. A blank page that doesn't have the colored header, left and right columns with the logo or html boxes, with just a little text publishes okay. What should I do?

It has a lot of pictures and 4 html boxes for separately published menubars, a logo, and a few shapes and menubars. Even the template of my index page which just has the header and left and right columns (that I plan to use for all my other pages) also won't publish and times out. A blank page without my header or left or right columns and just a little text publishes okay, though. What should I do?

Please dont duplicate posts. You wont get assistance any faster.

Your firewall is most likely blocking you. Close bv, right click on the icon and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR, then try to publish.

If this fails then you will need to add blue voda to your trusted applications list in your firewalls and virus software, and add your site to trusted sites in explorer.

Also check your cpanel and make sure you do not have hotfix or hotlinks enabled for that domain. You might ALSO resize your images and make them easier for upload and for your site to load when u do get it published.

I wasn't trying to post twice to be responded to earlier. The first one returned a blank screen when I posted it, so I posted it again, thinking the first one didn't go through.

It seems that the page is just too big and has too many pictures and animations on it. When I delete most of them, the page publishes okay. Is that standard fare, or should it still be able to be published, even with a lot of things on it. It was 15,000 px long.

I did as you said, running it as an administrator, and it published okay, with all the pictures, but the alternate texts don't appear when I put the mouse over them, like they do in the previewed page. Is there a fix for that?

go back and make sure you saved them in there.

They are all there.
I'm having trouble with IE right now. It won't load gmail and keeps crashing. I'm viewing the index page in FF. FF has Coolpreviews working. That shows up fine. Could that be interfering with the tooltips?

You mean the mouse over tags? yes.. I think those only show in IE.

Hi,

Goto to "Tools" and select "Options" then select "publish" and set the time
to 3600 seconds so that you will not be timed out again.

Then republishing again.

By the way from your explanation I can feel that you have a heavy page to publish so make sure your images are all optimised with as low a KB as possible.

Just a follow up. I have found that if I publish the page very early in the morning it publishes quickly and without a problem, but trying to publish it during the afternoon never works.

That would be your isp connection. Even tho they SAY its unlimited.. check the fine print.. if youve been on alot ..uploading ..downloading.. they could narrow your bandwidth to allow OTHERS on the connection.
