  • Download link problem

    Hi,

I have a link to download a file on my website thank you page, which is not live? I can copy and paste it into the browser and the download box appears immediately. I have followed the 'How to create a download' but would assume that the link would take you straight to the download.

How do I make that link live?

    Many thanks
    Steve

Can you give us a link to this page so we can test it for you?

Yes you have typed the address of this file but you havn't linked it. Highlight it>right click>properties>type in url http://www.kellimae.com/101Motivation.pdf.zip

EDIT: It also works OK without the .zip extension

          Hi,

Thanks for your reply, but I am still having trouble. When I highlight the link and go to properties I get a text properties General tab and have typed those details into the Image box section? as this is the only option available to me?

Sorry for being thick but not very good at this type of thing at all.

          Thanks
          Steve

Hi when I go to ftp??? cannot understand it..sorry!

Perhaps if I go through what I have done and so you can spot the error, if that is Ok with you.
Open Control Panel >public_html > then upload file.
Back to home page/kellimae.com/public_html/images and rename file to book2.pdf
Back to Blue Voda…thank you page.
Click text and type in http://www.kellimae.com/book2.pdf and highlight> link
type in URL box http://www.kellimae.com/book2.pdf and click ok
                    Save page and then publish
                    Page cannot be found!!!
                    Sorry for being a pain,
                    Thanks

                      Re: Download link problem

We got this to work on your first one so have you done anything different??

My Instinct tells me that maybe your url is not matching the pdf.

the .pdf extension has to be exactly the same as the file name.

For eg if your document is saved book2.pdf then the url is http://www.kellimae.com/book2.pdf as you say. The bit in red has to be exactly the same.

''Back to home page/kellimae.com/public_html/images and rename file to book2.pdf'' Im not sure what you are doing here??

FTP - Its easier to upload documents using BlueVodas built in FTP

                      Open BV>Tools>FTP Manager>Connect
Same login credentials as for publishing. IP Address, User Name, Password

Once connected you will see your PC on the left and the Server on your right.

Find the .pdf on the left and drag it to the right. Make sure you drag it to where your other pages are.

                      And thats it upload done
                      Happy Building
