    Protecting Affiliate Links

    This has been addressed before by VodaHost but it was several posts into the thread.

    It’s relatively easy for your commissions to be stolen without your knowledge.
    This is of course if you show your affiliate link:

    http://www.widgets.com/affi/36457.1.1 (non existent link)

    You can protect your link by:
    Create a new folder in your public_html file
    Name it (click or go or anything you want) realizing that this will be visible on mouseover.
    Make a page named:
    Anything that’s short and easy to remember. This will also be visible on mouseover.
    The page will be completely blank
    In your between head tags paste:

    <META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="0;URL=http://www.affiliate-url">

    The bold red will be the actual URL

    Publish the page to: public_html/newfolderename

    Now, when anyone clicks on your affiliate link they will not see the actual URL.

    There are other methods to achieve this.
