    Dear all,

    BlueVoda automatically changes Japanese text into a Chinese font. If there is a sequence of "Kanji"-characters, apparently BV considers this to be Chinese and changes the font to "SimSun", which is Chinese. In case of "Kana", BV keeps it in "MSGothic", which is Japanese. The auto-change happens after entering the text and de-selecting the textbox.

    How can this auto-change be avoided?

    B.t.w., earlier versions of BV didn't seem to have this problem.

    One can only assume you are folowing the proper methods as desribed in this thread, yes?

    If so, and if you are still experiencing issues, return to this thread to post as expected a URL to the website in question as outlined in and required by Forum protocol 'How To Ask For Assistance' so your issue can be reviewed properly to determine the specific solution.

      We followed the instructions as listed in the thread: Unicode is enabled and the character-set is UTF-8. We entered Japanese text by first typing it in Notepad. Here it appears correctly. Then we copied it from there and pasted it into a textbox in BV. While entering, the font is still Japanese, we chose MS-Gothic. However, immediately after deselecting the textbox, BV automatically changes series of "Kanji" characters into the Chinese "SimSun" font. We have been unable to avoid this auto-change. Although the language input mode of our computer to Japanese ("hiragana"), BV seems to consider SimSun as the standard font. We don't experience any other problems on our computer in reading and writing Japanese Characters.

      If you take a look you notice the difference between the second line and the other two lines: the second line is in the thinner SimSun font, the other two in the thicker MS-Gothic font. Funny enough BV also changes a couple of Kanji in the other lines, but those changes don't appear on the published page.

      The older version of BV didn't have this problem. That's why our previously published pages are in the correct font.

        I am not familiar with the nuances between the different font styles involved when using Japanese characterizations, and how they may infer differences unintended .... sorry! My reply to your original Forum post was only a humble effort to provide you with the proven method of using 'foreign' fonts in BlueVoda effectively, which apparently was not enough.

        Since you have already submitted your issue to Support, and are using a method to present Japanese characters properly (although not in the preferred style), there is not much more I or another can do for you via the Forums at all ... we are not the creators nor coders of BlueVoda, nor would we have entree to any such coding-based solution (which seems most likely the avenue that needs be taken).

        If necessary, reply to your Support Ticket to "re-open" it if closed, and pursue from Support a satisfactory solution, as per Forum Rules, once a matter has been referred to Support, it needs to not be posted in the Forums.
