I'm a novice to all this SEO and was hoping for some advice. I entered my site in google site maps, got the verification file address, uploaded it to my root directory and selected the verify icon. All I get back is "general http error" unable to verify. This has been going on for a month now. I have search the internet for answers but can't find any to solve my problem
I have checked my 404 status and this is OK
My page rank is not greyed out so my site isn't banned
On some SEO software HTTP verifier I do get
HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error =>
It has even been suggested that voda host has over 1,000 websites on 1 IP address and it only takes 1 site to get the IP adress banned. As I'm a novice I don't know how true this is.
