  • Links toolbar problems

Have removed the links toolbar by dragging it from its docked position at the bottom of the Blue Voda 6.6.2 screen. double clicking on the toolbar screen closed it. The toolbar customize screen shows all the toolbars as visible. The Links checkbox is unmarked. Marking the checkbox does not revive the toolbar on the screen and after closing the customize screen and reopening the check box remains un checked. Right click on a toolbar area shows a list of toolbars but the Links toolbar is greyed out.
    Note Adding toolbar feature works.
How can I restore the links toolbar (Is this a registry tweak?)?

    1. Open regedit and find:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BlueVoda 6.5.5\BlueVoda 6.5.5\ProfUIS227

    2. Delete the complete key (ProfUIS227 only!!!)

    3. Warning: Make sure you do not delete any other stuff from the registry!

    Disclaimer:
Don’t ever change a value in the registry. Ever. We know we just told you to do that, but would you jump off a cliff if we told you to? Don’t ever change a value in the registry. Don’t even say the word registry. We know a guy once who said the word registry, and three days later he was hit by a bus. True story. As a matter of fact, you shouldn’t even have a registry on your computer. If you suspect that you do have a registry on your computer, please call us and a trained professional will be dispatched to your office to remove the registry immediately. If you accidentally touch the registry, wash your hands with soap and water and call a doctor. Do not swallow the registry or get it in your eyes!

My only question is why does Blue Voda rely so heavily on the infamous registry? I have managed (quite successfully) to persuade developers to adopt, external text based files, to store program related definition files. It makes any solution generic, managable and generally more stable.

There are 3 reasons for using the registry.
        1. Unfortunately we use third party components that rely on the registry there is nothing we can do about that.

        2. Using an external config file makes the settings more vunerable for users who do not know what their doing. So we've hidden them so only advanced users can access them if necessary.

        3. It's the official way of storing cofiguration data for an application according to the Windows 9x/XP compilant rules.

I knew a guy once who was thinking about touching the registry. He was
never heard from again, his wife, kids and dog have no idea where he is.
They say if open BlueVoda and say his name three times. You can see
his outline in the grid dots.....Scary Stuff.
