  • Help in changing Head Title from a template!

I have been trying to change the top of my website to represent a different Title and design without much progress!

Can anyone assist me in replacing the Main Heading from an office type of logo to my own heading as pictured here next to my name?

The picture here is of the world at night with Martech Yacht Refinishing Spe******ts as its title.

I would like this to be the Page Template, and title!

To see what I am trying to do please view http://Martech-Inc.biz

What I would like to have happen when someone clicks on the website url is for the page to open with a small yacht marguee that as it scrolls across the title area the picture next to my name appears and once it is there it stops the marquee!

    example:

Text is what I will use to give example as to what I want.

    Yacht Picture

( Martech Logo goes here)Yacht Picture

    (Martech logo goes here)Yacht Picture

    (Martech Logo goes here)

So when the yacht reaches the end it has the martech logo to appear and stays!

Hopefully someone understands what I am trying to do?

    Please help!!!!!!!!!!

    <watching intently as well>

I'm purchasing a Soho account tomorrow/today, so this issue is exactly the kind of thing I will be watching...I am going to try to set up a Soho site on one of my 'lesser' businesses to see if it will work out for me as well. (The lowest VodaBid I got back was around 3g's for what I consider the basics, so one fellow Ranger to another, I am keen on seeing how your solution presents itself)

Best bet is to have Generals Brad or Naval address this one.....

You mean something like this: http://www.southernmarine.info/index.php?pr=Clients

It needs finetuning, it was just a fast thing to show if this is what you are after. If it is, let me know

        Navaldesign:

        Thank you for the post.

The link is primarily showing what I want with 2 exceptions stated below.

1). Direction of the banner to be displayed is to come from the left and not the right.

2). Background of the banner to represent the picture here, and not the blue background as represented at the link you posted.

The picture next to my name is the one I want as the background. Or I can send you the actual photo file.

The main website itself is do for a complete overhaul, Martech is concidering changing types of boats they will be working on......
Not sure how all the new changes they are incorporating into their business. Will know more details after my business trip to Florida at the end of June.

Re: Help in changing Head Title from a template!

There is no problem for the left to right. But please take into consideration the fact that Soho resizes the template header to fit the screen. Then you have to select a three image template (like the one you saw in my link) and change the 3 gifs in the template with either white or coloured . You might have positioning problems on different size monitors. In relation to the other project (making subsites) i suggest that you pass over to BV, which will allow you absolute freedom to do whatever you want. You don't have any special Soho features involved in your site, so i strongly reccomend you to do so. Anyway, when you have decided what to do, just post back.

            Navaldesign:

So if I use BV, and incorporate the header as described, will it clear the template being used or will I need to re-do the entire page creation using BV?

I like the way the template is being used, just needs the header changede is all?

Re: Help in changing Head Title from a template!

If you just want to change the header, with a STATIC one, you must
              1. Change the template to a 3 part one (yours is 5 or 6 parts)
              2. Locate the three gifs of this template (They are in the templates folder, under your Soholaunch folder in your site)
              3. Replace them with three new ones that you will create: a central one, with your logo and site name (or however you like it) and the two extreme ones (the ones that make the re-sizing) that must be similar to the central one as colour, so the whole thing will present as one single header.

However, I STRONGLY reccomend that you go from scratch with BV, for all your site. You don't use the special features that Soho has, so you don't really need it, and BV allows for excellent sites.

                Navaldesign:

                I think I goofed......

When I tried as you suggested using the Template Manager, I set the type of header file I wanted.

But in doing so changed the entire site .......

I have 1 Black bg header and 2 of the header files now appearing on the page, and not what I had wanted.

I have been unable to eliminate 1 of the header files which now appears as an object file. I tried to delete the object with no results.

I simply want to change the header file to look like 1 of the headers showing up onto the page.

First cup of coffee isn't doing the job.
