  • Domain name transfer and photo links

OK I've still got my old site panamintcharlie.com running with my other host. I've registered panamintcharlie.net with vodahost. I am rebuilding panamintcharlie from the ground up.

    My question is this.

Once I have the new site completed and I transfer panamintcharlie.com over here will old search engine links and hot links from other sites be redirected to the new vodahost site? Givin that I saved my files with the same URLs as they were with the old provider.

    Thanks,
    Charles

      OK I'm back.

My .com address just transfered today and I have it forwarded to the .net address. How can I make the .com address be the main address on my account?

The reason is this. All my web links and search results point to the .com address. Now if I click on a link, Lets say panamintcharlie.com/tripreports.html instead of going to the .net/tripreports.html it simply redirects to the .net index page.

With Blue Voda my pages get saves as .net. how can I save them as .com?

Thanks for all the help. I've still got a lot to learn but I think this program works very well.

When you added panamintcharlie.com as an add-on domain you probably set it up as a redirect, so it no sends people to your .net index page! Remove the redirect and you should have no problems!

          Thanks for the reply, Sarah

I tried removing the redirect and now any .com link points to a index directory. The directory shows a parent directory and a cgi-bin.

What can I do to just save all my pages as panamintcharlie.com instead of panamintcharlie.net? If I can do that, I will be happy.

          Thanks again,
          Charles

I put the redirect back so I would not lose visitors. I'll fiddle with it a little more before I open a ticket.

              Thanks

OK I figured out my link redirect problem.

When I set up the redirect I forgot to add a / to the end of the redirected URL. Now my links point to their respective pages instead of the index page.

Now how can I set blue Voda to save my pages as .com instead of .net?

Thanks for all the help, Sarah. I've got it now.

After three years at homestead it's taking me a little time to figure out this new way of doing things.

Homestead was really simple. like a Ford Pinto. Blue Voda and the C Panel is like a Cadillac. Smooth and easy to drive, but with loads of great options.
