  • How to Setup Email Forwarding (Redirects) in cPanel

    what is cpanel

This tutorial will guide you on how to setup email forwarding (redirects) in cPanel. For the purpose of this guide, we'll presume that you're currently in cPanel hosting and therefore are viewing the primary display.

Let us begin to learn how to setup email forwarding in cPanel. Select the Forwarders link under the Mail category of your cPanel hosting screen. Once you have selected Forwarders a new display will appear the Forwarders page. You will see if any forwarders are setup in your account at this point.

Let's start to set one up. Select the Add Forwarder button under the Email Account Forwarders section.

A new display will appear where you can add a new email forwarder, also known as an email redirect. Type the email prefix in the box next to Address to Forward. Note, that if you have more than one account (an add-on domain or a parked domain) choose the one you wish to create listed in the following dropdown box. Type the forwarding email address where you wish to have these emails sent within the Email box located underneath the Destination section. Once you inputted all the information select the Add Forwarder button.

A new display will appear of all emails sent to the forwarded email will now be copied to the forwarding email address you have previously inputted. When people send an email to the forwarded email address, that email will automatically be redirected (or forwarded) to the forwarding email address you inputted.

Let's go back to the Forwarders page, by selecting Go Back. You can see the forwarder we just created in the list under Email Account Forwarders. You may delete existing forwarders by simply selecting Delete under the Functions column. If you wish to create additional forwarders, just follow the above instructions.

In addition to setting up email forwarders, you can also setup domain forwarders so that all email sent to addresses within a domain would be forwarded to a specific email address. This can be done by selecting the Add Domain Forwarder under the Email Domain Forwarders section of the Forwarders page.

Select the Home icon on the top left of the screen to return to the main page of the cPanel hosting screen. This is the end of the tutorial. You now know how to setup email forwarding (redirects) in cPanel.
