OK I made sure I watched the tutorials and a couple times when i got stuck I read through the forums which helped me TREMENDOUSLY! What a great idea since many people have the same problems. I know at some point I read something about this problem but I can't find the forum or post again and I don't remember what causes it.
I got my website up for the most part and running the way I want it to. This morning I tried to update by adding some text to this page:

Here is the weird thing. Text that is already in place such as the foreign win record can be altered and updated without a problem.
New text that I insert anywhere on the page is causing me grief and I think it is a problem with the ROCKYOu slideshow I inserted with an html box but I can't figure out why.
I tried to insert the text "Registered" just above the end of the title "Taja Siberians" at the top of the page. Instead it is appearing immediately next to the rock you slideshow halfway down the page. I also tried to insert text "Copyright blah blah blah" at the bottom of the page. Without the copyright text there, the page is the exact length I want. (About 2750)
When I add the copyright, it suddenly dumps in an excessive amount of blank space, throws the copyright text at the bottom and adds a link back to the rockyou homepage which I cannot figure out how it got there or how to remove it.
Any ideas what is causing this? I updated some of the other pages this way without an issue. This one is stumping me.
