No... you wont. Certain things have to be in place on a soho template to make it work with the dynamic pages andcontent.

I think soholaunch will cover most of your needs and its cheap to have a template customized tosuit you.

You cannot mix and match bv... yes it would change the look. You can however cut and paste your text into soho.
