  • Published web page is the index!

    Client#ID: 22757
    ahertzler1@msn.com
    My primary domain is http://www.awarenessofoneness.com
This page appears as an index of all my files.
    How do I change this??

I also set up a second sub domain page: http://www.abridgebeyondcoaching.com

    Thank you!

Re: Published web page is the index!

Save your home page as 'index' only... don't put anything after 'index' and make sure its all lower case
Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.

Re: Published web page is the index!

      Thank You!
      The page does not publish.
What is on the site is Index of/ and the listing of my public files.

I have checked and changed the page properties and published several times with index as the title of the page.

      What have I missed?

What other options would you suggest?

Re: Published web page is the index!

        That is the only option!

You simply have to save your first page as index (all lower case) as explained above and publish it.

edit: It has nothing to do with page tiltles

          You saved it as "index.bvp"

It should have NO extension when u save.. just 'index'

            Thank You, Darren
The publish process now says there is an error and that the file: public_html, does not exist.

            What next?

Re: Published web page is the index!

                Thank You for your responses.
When I attempt to publish there is an error message saying there is no such directory.
I am saving the page as 'index' only and it saves as index.bvp.
I do not see it in FTP as index.html.
From all I have read in the forum and instructions, I can see nothing else to do to get beyond the error message.

Please, I would like some other direction to publish the site pages.

                Thank You!

Re: Published web page is the index!

Well, we know there has to be a public_html or none of us could see the list of files. So if you open FTP Manager in BV and connect, you should see all those files in the right hand pane. At the top of the window it should say "FTP://xxxxxxxxxx/public_html" (the xxx's are your IP address). Might as well right click and delete "index.bvp" in the RIGHT HAND pane while you're there. Disconnect and close FTP Manager.

Then, when you have your index.bvp page open in BV, click the Publish icon at top. The window that opens must have your correct Server IP (might want to double check), username and password fields. The Folder field should say "public_html." (I often publish to the wrong folder by forgetting to confirm that).

If any of these steps are undoable or unresolvable, then it might take a word with Support.

Re: Published web page is the index!

Go back to your builder, open your index page, click File/Save As then type index nothing else
Click the publish icon do not upload make sure you are publishing to public_html (nothing else)
Then you should have your home page up when you go to your site
Note publishing and uploading are two different things, the only way your page will get to your public_html folder as index.bvp is if you are uploading and not publishing.

Your subdomain page is working now... but for the main domain... its just plain and simple as they said... publish the page as just "index"..

I just found out what you did.... you didn't publish your "index" on your main domain,,, what you did is just transferred it thru ftp i think... you have to publish it for it to open properly as an .html

AGAIN.. the TUTORIALS WOULD HAVE SOLVED THIS.. as it clearly shows how to PUBLISH a webpage. NOT FTP but PUBLISH.
